Singer-Songwriter in Search of a Band . . .

Description

I'm a gigging singer-songwriter in search of a part-time, low commitment band. Why? I've got a fairly demanding day job with one hell of a commute. Being part of a band that rehearses three times a week ain't gonna cut it. However, I also have a songwriting itch to scratch with an artistic vision I want to realize. One album got started pre-pandemic, released during the pandemic, and what remained of the band got caught up in other commitments post-pandemic. I've started to record the second album with some hired hands, but I'd like to find some like minded travelers in the San Joaquin or Tri-Valley area who want to join me on the ride. Looking for a drummer, bassist, second guitarist, maybe even a keyboardist. Would like a female voice in the mix. Like the Widespread Panic lineup, I don't care if you're 18 or 75. I don't care if you're in another band. If you're in a thrash metal band but have a secret desire to play The Who's Tommy in its entirety, we're in the same ballpark. My musical interests run the gamut, so let's put it all in perspective another way. I bounce between Underground Garage and Outlaw Country when I'm commuting and listening to Sirius. Todd Rundgren is my spiritual guru and I listen to A Wizard A True Star at least three times a year over a great beer, but most of what I play sounds like The Nazz or early 80s Utopia. The Kinks own the British Invasion. I did the math and have no shame in admitting I've seen The Monkees 7 times since 1987. I took all of my kids to see The Zombies and I've personally seen The Zombies 4 times. If Rhett Miller or Will Sheff put out new music, I'm listening intently. Arthur Lee over Jim Morrison any day of the week. I can tell you the exact point on Highway 9 when to start playing Dark Side of the Moon so you wind up in Saratoga (or Ben Lomond) with a new lease on life, at least for the moment. Then we'd switch gears and crank up Buck Owens. Or Bob Willis. Or Buddy Holly. I threw together a makeshift band and performed almost every song that was played at Altamont for its 50th anniversary at my favorite brewery (and second home) in Tracy — and I did it not only because I love that era of the Stones, but because I got to play all the Flying Burrito Brothers songs. If any of that makes sense to you and resonates and you don't know why but kind of do, shoot me an email and we'll talk.
