Description
ROMEOVILLE, IL — A White Oak Library District candidate will be omitted from the ballot after an objection to Stephanie Saldana's petition was sustained by the Will County Officers Electoral Board.
The petition, by Adam Woodworth of Lockport, claimed that the candidate petition packet filed by Saldana did not have the required number of valid signatures. According to state law, a candidate running for library trustee must have at least 50 signatures on their petition from the district residents.
However, three of the 50 signatures submitted by Saldana were from people who do not reside within the boundaries of the district, leaving her with just 47 valid signatures, according to the objection.
Upon reviewing the required documents, the board found the objection to be true and the Will County Clerk's Office ordered the district to not print her name on the ballot for the April 6 election.
