When Pastor Courtney Clayton Jenkins took a 16-week sabbatical and invited her friends to join her in Bali, none of them knew the ways this trip would impact each of their lives. Come and witness how these four diverse Cleveland women immersed themselves in transforming ways, as an act of self-care, into a culture quite different than Cleveland.
The first documentary is entitled “In to the Water” and it shares Pastor Jenkins’ experience participating in a Balinese Hindu Water Purification ritual. The second piece is entitled “Come to the Table” and is a table talk with six girlfriends who chat about navigating faith, middle age, grief and authenticity. Both think pieces are powerful and palpable.
Join us on Friday, November 4th at 6:00 PM at Karamu House for the community premier of Into the Water: Come to the Table. Helen Forbes Fields, CEO of YWCA Cleveland, will moderate a panel discussion with Pastor Courtney and three of her friends, from different professional fields, to talk about their experiences and new found perspectives.
Tickets are $10 and include the opening reception prior to the premier. All ticket proceeds will be donated to the YWCA’s reFRESHed program at the conclusion of the event.
