Description
This workshop combines a sensory tea-tasting experience. We will use our senses to invoke a sense of calm, incorporated with breathing exercises, guided imagery, and journaling. We will then transition to our neurographic art element. A cathartic meeting with your unconscious which unfolds through a time drawing. Through this meditative drawing activity, rational thinking is bypassed, and you are able to reach deep into hidden layers of one’s psyche. Your unconscious, ordinarily inaccessible, is opened up and new neural networks are formed in the brain. What you thought was impossible, suddenly becomes reachable. The results can range from immediate insights or inspiration days later to knowing how to change points of stress in your life. Studies show that people who engage in self-care report lower levels of stress and improved quality of life. Participants will leave the session with stress reduction tools, a mug, a journal, and markers to use in the future. Any questions? I received my Tea Sommelier Certification in 2018, and in 2019 I had the opportunity to attend the Japanese Global Tea Master program in Kyoto, Japan. In 2020 my tea company Rose Glow Tea Room was a finalist at the World Tea Conference for "Best campaign." I started this workshop because I found that the coping skills I use and teach my students, could benefit others as well. Emily Cotton I am currently teaching Visual Art and help lead equity and diversity initiatives for a public school. I have a Bachelor’s in Art and a Master’s Degree in Learning & Design from Georgetown University, that had me create curriculum and courses infused with Art Therapy as a new way to help manage daily stress and heal past traumas. I am also thrilled to be a published illustrator who is featured in children’s books and font covers.
