Description

Pedestrian-friendly cities and public transit go hand in hand. That’s why we’re doing a walk audit in South Sacramento in partnership with AARP. This audit will help assess the safety and walkability along both 24th Street and Meadowview Road, along with the availability, placement and condition of bus stops on the Meadowview Road route. We want feedback on how the neighborhood can be more friendly to people walking, rolling, and biking to get to the bus on Meadowview Road. Findings from this audit will inform Sacramento Regional Transit’s Bus Stop Improvement Plan. We invite you to join us! Participants are needed to help conduct the audit by observing and evaluating the walkability of each street and whether pedestrians can safely travel along each route. The event will take place on Saturday, October 29th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Volunteers can choose from one of the two routes, approximately a half mile in length: • Route One will start at 24th Street Bypass Park and follow 24th Street to Steve Jones Park • Route Two will start outside Capitol Collegiate Academy and follow Meadowview Road to Steve Jones Park A brief overview and training will be provided, followed by each team conducting their walk audit. Participants will then meet at Steve Jones Park to share findings. For participating a t-shirt, lunch, and beverage will be provided. Finally - it's almost Halloween! We invite you to wear your costumes!
