Join us for the first Grapevine SBS!!! Reminder, this year's SBS series has some new and exciting features that you need to know about! The final comp of the series, the SBS SHOWDOWN, will be held at our infamous Carrollton location, which is no longer open to the public! In order to compete in the SBS SHOWDOWN, you MUST compete in at least 1 of the other SBS events in 2022. Season pass holders, you don't need to worry about a thing. SBS in Grapevine is on November 12th (heads up, past competitors, SBS comps are being held on SATURDAYS this year!). SBS is a Modified Redpoint bouldering competition with an exciting onsight final for our top 5 elite climbers at the very end. The deets: Doors open at 5 PM, pre-registered climbers pick up their scorecards. 16 and up for competitors, please! Climbing starts at 6 PM, and y'all will have until 9 PM to crush the 8 freshly-set, super dope boulder problems within your category. Turn your scorecards in at 9 PM sharp! After some quick math from the scorekeepers, the top five competitors in the Elite categories will climb in our onsight final at 9:45 PM. And then that's when the party really starts! We'll have drinks and food for you to enjoy! Please bring your ID if you plan on drinking alcohol (and if you are competing in Elite, do not drink before finding out if you're in finals). Grab your spot now, space is limited! Competitor passes are $35 each, and spectator spots are $20 (comes with free food and beer)! Category breakdown: Beginner: VB - V2 (White, Green and Yellow) Intermediate: V2 - V4 (Red and Blue) Advanced: V5 - V8 (Orange and Purple) Elite: V8+ (Pink and Black) PLEASE no sandbagging - we will find you, and we WILL bump you! For some more incentive, here are the prizes (men, women, non-binary are in separate categories!) Elite category (Cash prize): 1st prize - $200 2nd place - $150 3rd place - $75 All other categories (Summit Gift Card prize): 1st place - $25 2nd place - $10 3rd place - $5 Here's how the modified redpoint competition will work: - You have 3 hours to attempt the 8 boulders assigned to your category - You have unlimited attempts per boulder to get as far you can - You can either gain zone or/and top for each boulder - Tops must be controlled finishes - both hands on the top hold! - Scoring is based on your number of Tops and Zone - Scoring is honor system - please, no cheating!
