I have my BS in Human Services with a minor in Christian Studies from Shorter University. Although my profession is working as a Principal Administrative Assistant in Atlanta Public Schools, my passion is pouring into others. There is a quote that I try to live out each day of my life from the beautiful Maya Angelou that says "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." As I continue to cultivate and gain wisdom, it has become natural for me to express my passion and sincere dedication to helping others. I realized very early in life that it isn't only important to tell others that you care but to show them you care, and actions are much stronger than words. I display these critical pieces in a holistic approach by mentoring in compromising ways for me as the mentor and the mentee, showing consistency, and building confidence and communication skills. This continues to work as a positive message to many people I encounter and often seems to be the key for them to open up to positive dialogue when in need. An African proverb that she holds dear to her heart and truly inspires her work states, "It takes a village to raise a child." I believe this to be true and aspire to be a part of the village that continuously helps a child. Presenter College Scholarships: It's A Different World (IADW) Desireé Robinson, MS “Communicate, Motivate, Educate” is the hallmark of who I am as a veteran communicator and former college professor with more than 25 years' experience in journalism and public relations. But in 2019, my real full-time part-time job was serving as a CCMO, a Chief College Management Officer. That’s right! I shuffled two high school seniors (and now a third senior) successfully through the college and scholarship application process. My experiences became the inspiration behind creating IADW, which stands for, “It’s A Different World” because, well, it is! My goal is to help you and your family avoid common mistakes and put you on the path of increasing your college scholarship success potential without going into burdensome debt.
