The University of Missouri Extension and Truman Habitat for Humanity is hosting the University of Missouri Theater Department for a special one-day educational event. Helping promote a healthy dialog around race, diversity, and inclusion.
For one day only, on Friday, November 4th, MU Extension, and Truman Habitat are excited to host the MU Interactive Theatre Troupe. The troupe will lead youth in an interactive performance experience that will help us all have a dialog about race and inclusion. This event is also a way to honor the Young School and the history of racial segregation in Kansas City area public schools of Kansas City.
This play is unlike any you have attended before. The Interactive Performance experience allows audiences to explore cultural issues like racism, identity, and difference through performance. Audience members participate in the show by watching short performances focused on a cultural issue and discussing challenges embedded in the scene. The workshop provides a “rehearsal for real life” by empowering audiences to better understand cultural differences and improve their communication.
