Description
"Hurricane of Hope"Please join us on Thursday, November 3rd from 6pm to 9pm at TopGolf, Fort Myers, for a fun evening of food and golf! Registration is limited, so make sure to register ASAP!The recent Hurricane destroyed homes, took lives, and disrupted our community! We are hoping to provide some stress relief, while helping Hope Clubhouse raise money needed to rebuild, restock their community kitchen, and help their members, whom many lost everything in the storm. We hope that you are able to bring an item (or pledge items) from the list below to the event, or donate directly to HopeClubhouse.org at the event. A message from Hope Clubhouse: We had several members (At least 5) who lost their homes, car, and personal belongings. We can get a specific list of their needs, but gift cards and monetary donations will help replace items and assist with temporary housing. FEMA is moving very slowly. The following is a list of Hope Clubhouses losses due to the storm: $2000 worth of food from our coolers and freezer. Replacing these items is our most pressing need. We normally order from Gordon's, but a large BJs run works too. $7000 value of crops and trees from the garden (so far- we are attempting to replant some trees, so we may have more losses over time). $4000 damage to the lanai furniture where we serve meals. $1500 damage done to our screened lanai. Items needed include:Gift Cards from Walmart, Target, Kohls, Lowes, Home Depot, BJs, Sam's Club, and Costco (These will help support purchases of clothing, household, home repair, and food based on their personal situations)Household items for those that lost entire homes (these items can be donated through cooperation with Erin Broussard at Hope Clubhouse if they are larger items)One member is in need of a specialty mattress for health reason worth $2800. They are currently sleeping on the dried out mattress because they can not afford to replace it.Information about Hope Clubhouse:We believe in change through HOPE 1 in 5 adults will experience mental illness in their lifetime. 1 in 25 will experience a serious mental illness – bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and major depression just to name a few. There is simply not enough resources today for everyone with a mental illness who needs help. It’s a crisis situation and the numbers are growing. HOPE Clubhouse powerfully demonstrates that people with mental illnesses can, and do, lead productive happy lives. HOPE Clubhouse is a local community-based solution to a global problem. Our units (activities) provide opportunities for work, wellness, education and socialization – in an evidence based approach that has been proven to help people with mental illness and recover their lives. Our Clubhouse focuses on strengths and abilities and not on illness. Through friendship, shared work, education and employment, HOPE Clubhouse has given people a sense of hope and regain a fulfilling life. In our physical, as well as digital connections, HOPE Clubhouse makes a real and lasting difference in people’s lives by helping them achieve their social, educational and employment goals. We believe in HOPE – Healing, Opportunity, Purpose and Empowerment. HOPE changes people’s lives.
