In my 60+ years breathing air, I have heard and listened to all sorts of political hot air, coming from both parties in this country. But nothing comes close to the level of hot air being blown by the current GOP machine. Today I see in the news how they’ve asked the question: can you afford to give up a month’s worth of your wages? And then they go on to add that this is how much the D’s have taken from you in the last couple of years. Oh? Well I guess that the record-setting profits being made by the retail corporations in this country have nothing to do with inflation then. I guess that the current 300% increase in profits/money being made by our own US oil companies have nothing to do with the high costs of fuel. It’s all the D’s faults? What a crock! So, the GOP is also telling us that the way to end this is to reduce domestic entitlements (funny how our Congress and Senate both have salaries that should be called “entitlements”) which means cuts to social security, Medicare, etc. along with MORE TAX CUTS for the wealthy and business worlds. In the 1950s, 70% of every tax dollar collected by the US Government was sourced from the business world; contrasted to today when 70% of every tax dollar comes from individual people. It is way past time to end the corporate welfare state of the GOP. How many times are people in this country going to believe this lie?
