Hello, there! Desert Falcon here! (But you can call me D.Falc if you see me on the street.) In the same spirit with which Snakes chose its band name (popular vote on a short list of names), we’re opening up our debut album cover art to public input! Announcing the 2022 Snakes Without Water Album Cover Contest! As is customary, we’re keeping a lid on the content of the album, but here are some updates to help inspire participants: We’ve 1) added 37 photos to our Desert Image Gallery on Facebook, and 2) REMASTERED and RERELEASED the preview single and video “The Petroglyph Gate.” About half the songs on the record will be instrumental and half will include vocals. Projected release date is in 2023. The album will be self-titled. Contest conditions and requirements are as follows: - JPEG format only - 1600x1600 to 3000x3000 pixels - Square shaped - RGB color space - No writing, unless it is “Snakes Without Water” (no quotes). However, you are not required to include the band name. - No blurriness - No unaltered photographs. (We already have plenty of desert photos.) - Submitted jpegs should contain no information that identifies the submitting artist. Such information is permissible in a transmission email because all jpegs will be blindly detached from emails prior to evaluation so that submissions are anonymous. - Compensation is restricted to a one-time $200.00 prize for the winning image. In exchange for $200.00, Snakes will take perpetual exclusive rights to digitally publish the winning image or allow, only if used to reference Snakes Without Water or Snakes Without Water's music, third parties to digitally publish the image. Snakes will initiate transfer of the $200.00 prize to the winning artist no later than November 10, 2022, regardless of the album’s release date. If, during any calendar year (January 1 to December 31) following release of the album, Snakes generate revenue from shows, song downloads, album-related contracts, and/or merchandise in excess of $1000.00, Snakes will promptly reengage the winning artist to arrange for compensation in addition to the $200.00 prize.
