Description

Healthy brain development is crucial for recognizing one’s full potential and overall well-being. For children who experience trauma stemming from abuse, neglect, or persistent interparental conflict, healthy brain development may be compromised putting these children at risk for a range of negative developmental outcomes. For frontline professionals, improving our understanding of how the brain changes and adapts to trauma and other environmental stressors, gives us the necessary insight to provide the most effective, and most appropriate support services. To support a trauma-informed model of care, the Texas Association of Family Forensics present: Get Your Brain Back in the Game An interactive workshop designed to improve the treating professional’s understanding of how the brain develops and responds to stress and trauma. Using the Brain Architecture Game, Ms. Christy Graham, LPC-S, and Dr. Pam Rinn, LMFT, will teach you how early childhood experiences can alter a child’s developing brain with impacts on mental, emotional, and behavioral health into adulthood. Attending professionals will learn to identify contributing factors leading to emotional dysregulation and positive methods of interaction with individuals experiencing stress or trauma. Mrs. Christy Graham, M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, Parent Facilitator, and Reunification Counselor, holds certifications as an EMDR and Trauma-Informed Expressive Arts Therapist. Mrs. Graham has provided clinical services to parents and children since 2000 and in 2013, established Acorn Counseling Education Services. Dr. Pam Rinn, Ph.D., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Parent Facilitator, and Family Reunification Counselor has worked in private practice at Acorn Counseling Education Services for 5 years. Dr. Rinn is play trained and holds certificates in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Autism Disorder Clinical Specialist. Come join us for an interactive morning of learning about the amazing architecture of the brain and what we can do as professionals to support our clients in its healthy development and repair. Space is limited to 40 participants. 3 CEUs provided for mental health professionals. Thank you to our sponsors:
