Through this production, we raise money to support deserving students to further their educational aspirations. Over the years we have awarded over half a million dollars in scholarships to students in Fresno County. These awards go to deserving students of varying talents and abilities including students often overlooked by many but recognized by us because they show promise. Some of our recipients do not attend four-year institutions but instead choose to attend two-year community colleges or Career Tech Schools. While we recognize those students who excel academically, we know that a successful individual is not always at the top of the class. In our screening process we seek out those students with unique financial needs, consequently several of our recipients are DACA students.
The LMAW is a community-based organization that was established in 1973 by women who were involved in community service, social programs, and politics but rarely in a leadership capacity. Our mission to: “Promote the advancement of Latinas, through educational attainment, leadership development, cultural enrichment, and volunteer service” inspires our work.
Join us at this year’s event to be part of our community as we help lift the financial burden of a college education for our students, we need your support to keep hope alive.
Sincerely,
Martha Espinosa
