My 16 y/o german shorthaired pointer is in need of someone who is home all day, every day, that can give her comfort and care. She needs human companionship and affection that I just cannot provide with my busy schedule.
At the moment her only strict need is for a daily incontinence pill (Proin ER). This will incur a cost of about $50 per month unless you can find a vet to give you a prescription so you can buy it online. With the proin she doesn't have any accidents in the house at all. And she is potty trained, of course and will use a dog door to go out in the yard to do her business. I strongly suggest you have a dog door if you take her.
After that, she needs to be sure you are there for her at all times. Otherwise she gets a bit frantic. And this is why I feel it is not fair to leave her home alone anymore. She would be so much better off with a stay at home person who can take her for her daily walk around the block and spend the rest of the day cuddling or otherwise interacting with her.
If those two basic needs are met then she will gladly cuddle with you as much as you want.
She is very sweet with pretty much all humans -- adults and kids. Could care less about other dogs. And is not good with cats.
I contacted about 5 rescues in the area and all they did was send me repeated emails trying to convince me to keep her. Or, they just didn't respond at all.
