Allegheny County Reports More Than 600 New Coronavirus Cases

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Thursday reported 10 new coronavirus deaths, pushing the total since the outbreak began last March to 1,067 - up from 1,057 on Wednesday. There were 664 confirmed and probable new coronavirus cases. There have been 58,371 cases since the outbreak began, up from 57,708 on Wednesday. The 448 confirmed cases came from 1,541 new tests - a positivity rate of 29 percent. For comparison purposes, the latest positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania is 15 percent, state officials said. There have been 3,315 hospitalizations during the outbreak. With 20,724 cases in Westmoreland County, 10,212 in Butler County, 9,774 in Washington County and 9,069 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cases to 108,150 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That's up from 106,567 on Wednesday. According to the state Department of Health, there have been 2,152 deaths in the region from the virus: One thousand and sixty-seven in Allegheny County, 459 in Westmoreland County, 266 in Beaver County, 216 in Butler County and 144 in Washington County. That's an increase from 2,104 on Wednesday.
