Description
JOLIET, IL — The first civil lawsuit filed at the new Will County Courthouse in 2021 is a personal injury case against the Joliet Motel 6 at 1850 McDonough St. Plaintiff Vincent Hollins has retained the Chicago law firm of McCready, Garcia & Leet in hopes of obtaining a settlement in excess of $50,000 from representatives of Motel 6, plus lawyers fees.
On Jan. 4, 2019, Hollins was on the premises at the Motel 6 on McDonough Street when "a table in a hotel room owned/managed/maintained by the defendant fell, causing injury" to Hollins, according to his Chicago personal injury lawyers.
The lawsuit contends that Hollins was "exercising reasonable care for his safety and was free from contributory negligence."
Motel 6, on the other hand, was negligent because it failed to ensure that this table was secured to a wall and it failed to warn its guests of the hazardous condition, the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit filed by attorney Michael McCready provides no specifics of Hollins' injuries, it just describes them as "injuries of a personal and pecuniary nature."
As of Thursday, lawyers for the Joliet Motel 6 had not responded to the allegations set forth in Hollins' lawsuit.
