Internationally known director David M. Harris from The Raleigh Ringers will conduct a concert of handbells known as Oktobellfest, an annual celebration of bells and brew.
Sponsored by The New England Ringers, seven handbell ensembles from New England will perform, including The Granite State Ringers, The Glory Ringers of Dunn’s Corners Community Church, Ringers of Faith, The Wheeler School Concert Handbell Ringers, Randomly Bronze Ringers, and The Faith Ringers, as well as individual ringers from ensembles around the country.
Handbells are mostly known for performing in church and Christmas settings, but this concert includes all secular, well-known music arranged for handbells, such as the Theme to Pirates of the Caribbean, Don’t Stop Believin’, and a medley of the music of George M. Cohan. Featured is the world premiere performance of “Beer Barrel Polka (Roll Out the Barrel)”, arranged by nationally known arranger of handbell music, Hart Morris. This piece was commissioned specifically for this event.
Doors open at 12:30 PM. Come enjoy the music in an informal setting, relax, enjoy a drink, and sing along.
