NEWTOWN, PA — Several busloads of President Trump supporters departed from Newtown early Wednesday morning for the nation's capital as part of a planned protest against the certification of Joe Biden as the next president of the United States. The People 4 Trump political organization, founded by Newtown Athletic Club owner Jim Worthington, organized several charter buses of Trump supporters from the Bucks County area in the weeks leading up to the event, according to the group's website and social media posts from the organization. Thousands of people took part in Wednesday's demonstrations, which turned violent after rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol building. As of Thursday afternoon, four deaths — including a Pennsylvania man — have been reported and more than a dozen law enforcement officers were injured, the New York Times reported. Washington DC police have made 69 arrests related to the unrest. The cost per person was $50, and participants were asked to email a Newtown Athletic Club employee to reserve a seat. Three buses were booked full as of Jan. 1, according to the People 4 Trump website. Worthington, a GOP donor who attended Wednesday's demonstrations, did not respond to a request for comment on this story. On his Facebook page, he said the rioters who went into the Capitol building "should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law." The FBI is asking for tips and video to identify rioters. Anyone who saw unlawful violent actions can submit their information, photos or videos at fbi.gov/USCapitol.
