Aloha, my journey started when I found out I was in kidney failure in 2019 and put on peritoneal dialysis in 2021 as it continued getting worse. Between this time, I was scheduled for 3 kidney transplants all of which fell through and an angiogram procedure for my heart was performed in August 2022. I am currently scheduled for my Kidney transplant procedure January 17, 2023, at OHSU. I was blessed to have my cousin Roslynn “Sissy” Angel step up and donate her kidney to me, she was a perfect match. Roslynn will be flying in from Hawaii Island a week before the surgery along with her caregivers all who will need to stay near the hospital for about two weeks to a month following the procedure for recovery. I will also be staying in Portland for about a month along with my caregiver following the procedure for recovery. My Mother will be flown in from Oahu Hawaii to take care of my Son at home who will still be in school during this time. All funds received from this fundraiser will be used for round trip Airfare for the Donor, caregivers and my mom (between $632.00 To $865. Per person = $3460.00 on the high side) Lodging at the Residents Inn near OHSU 2 room for one Month as donor and recipient are not allowed to share a room ($3600.00 per room if we can get the cheaper Hospital rate = $7,200.00) Transportation for labs and checkups for donor and recipient between hotel and OHSU as needed, transportation for caregivers to purchase necessities such as toiletries and food. And funds to provide my mom and Son Gas and food for the month. We are hoping to raise about $16,000.00 from this event for expenses. Through this experience I have always kept a positive attitude and a great outlook on life. I have been blessed with the best friends and family along the way who showered me with support everywhere I go. God is Good
