Otterbein University, and Black Girl Rising ,Inc., invite school administrators, teachers, social workers, counselors, and other adults who care about Black Girls to a special presentation by Dr. Monique W. Morris, EdD, on cultivating joyful learning spaces for black girls, insights into interrupting school pushout. This is a follow-up to Dr. Morris' work on the criminalization of black girls in schools. Dr. Morris is an award-winning author and social justice scholar focused on education, civil rights, and juvenile and criminal justice. She is the President and CEO of Grantmakers for Girls of Color and the founder and board chair of the National Black Women's Justice Institute. She has written and lectured widely on research, policies, and practices associated with improving juvenile/criminal justice, educational, and socioeconomic conditions for girls and women of color. The event will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 at The Point at Otterbein, 60 Collegeview Rd, Westerville, OH 43081. Registration & box lunch from 12:00 – 12:45 pm, with the presentation from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. The event is free to FREE to registered participants, but seating is limited. Please register by November 15, 2022. Every participant will receive a a copy of “Cultivating Joyful Learning Spaces for Black Girls”. This event is sponsored by Otterbein University, and Black Girl Rising, Inc. And this event is funded by the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County (ADAMH), K-12 Community Prevention Expansion Grant.
