FOLSOM, PA — Authorities in Delaware County announced they recently arrested a man accused of trying to kill his pregnant girlfriend in Maryland last month. Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said Demont Hodo, 29, of Harrisburg, was arrested on firearms and drug charges in Folsom. Hodo, according to the DA's office, had an outstanding warrant in Maryland for his arrest on charges of first and second degree assault and the attempted murder of his girlfriend at the time of his arrest in Delaware County. Hodo is accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend on Dec. 13, 2020. Ridley Township Police took Hodo into custody after setting up surveillance at the Home Depot located in the Folsom section of Ridley Township following an anonymous tip on his whereabouts, the DA's office said. Authorities saw Hodo in a rental car in the store's parking lot and took him into custody, the DA's office said. Authorities found a loaded Black Taurus 9mm handgun in his waistband and also seized ammunition. A narcotics dog searched the exterior of the rental car and identified the presence of narcotics, the DA's office said. After getting a search warrant for the vehicle, authorities found baggies containing suspected fentanyl. The DA's office said Hodo pleaded guilty to felonies in 2010 and 2013, this making it illegal for him to possess a firearm. Hodo's arrest also included assistance from the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division, Chester, Sharon Hill, and Folcroft police departments, as well as the FBI and DEA. "This arrest exemplifies what can be accomplished through terrific coordination and cooperation among law enforcement agencies," Stollsteimer said. "A dangerous defendant was safely taken off our streets, with no loss of life. On behalf of the residents of Delaware County, I want to say thank you." Hodo is being held at the George Hill Correctional Facility after failing to post $250,000 cash bail.
