mediocre bass player looking to start primitive rnr/punk band

I'm a mediocre bass player in my mid-40s. Love simple, energetic music such as 80/90s DC HC (think Minor Threat, Three), punk/ska (e.g., Hanson Brothers, Dead Boys, Operation Ivy), protopunk (Death, MC5), but also 60s garage, primitive r'n'r, rocksteady (as well as golden age hip hop). Looking to start a band, nothing too serious. Picked up playing bass a couple of years ago after a 20 yr hiatus and am playing in a rock band once a week doing originals. It's fun but pretty slow stuff and I'm missing something more energetic. Have a bass and amp, PA (sort of works), but no band practice room as of yet.
