Dear RCAB High School Counseling Leaders: Join your fellow Catholic school Counselors and Mrs. Deborah Rooney, an expert and proven leader in providing academic and college counseling support to students with unique learning styles across private and public schools, on Tuesday, December 6th, from 9:00—11:00 AM at Braintree’s Pastoral Center! Also participating will be college admissions leaders from Boston College, Emmanuel College, Loyola Maryland University, Marquette University, and Xavier University! During this interactive program, Deborah will drive discussion on important trends and best practices in counseling students and families through a college search and selection process that is best aligned with student’s learning and developmental needs. Attendees will learn about programs to support student success at these five Catholic colleges, in addition to others. We hope you and members of your Counseling Department can join us for this mission-critical discussion! For more information on Deborah Rooney: With over 25 years in the field of education, Deb has worked with children of all ages as well as various education professionals from teachers to administrators in a variety of capacities. She has used her master’s in education from Lesley University to develop the Rooney Writing Program and Study Smarter Program enabling both students and teachers to develop essential foundational skills that are applicable to any age. Deb has shared her expertise in college admissions and has supported students and high schools with placing students into top academic institutions. As an Orton Gillingham certified professional, she also helps parents and students navigate dyslexia and other reading or writing difficulties students face. At her core Deb believes that having the opportunity to help a child achieve a once viewed unattainable goal is incredibly rewording as this instills confidence in a child and propels that person to continue setting and striving to achieve their next goal.
