The City of Lynden is seeking a Seasonal Plant(s) Operator to join our Public Works team. *Please note: A City of Lynden application packet is required for this position. Job Summary On a temporary, seasonal basis, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance and repair of the City's water, wastewater and compost facilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience • High school diploma or GED equivalent. • Minimum four to six months (4-6) general employment experience. (Experience does not need to be continual or for the same employer). • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the incumbent with the necessary qualifications may be considered. Skills and Abilities • Perform general cleaning tasks. • Work safely. • Understand and carry out written and oral instructions. • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, other departments, and the public. • Work collaboratively in a team environment. • Adjust to changing work conditions as needed. • Remain calm and follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during emergency situations. • Represent the City in a positive and professional manner. • Support and promote the City's mission, vision, and core values in all aspects of job performance. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS • Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license and appropriate insurance at the time of hire for work-related travel. • Must pass appropriate background checks.
