Join us for the 1st Annual Great Give Back fundraising event hosted by SpiritHorse Kingsburg. This year The Great Give Back will benefit Dylan Gierke and his family. Meet Dylan. He is 5 years old and has been a student at SpiritHorse since he was 2 years old. Dylan was born premature and had a brain hemorrhage at birth. He has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, hearing loss, vision impairment, sensory processing disorder, and uses a G-tube for nutrition. Dylan is not walking, but he is very mobile and needs somewhere safe to sleep at night. A Sleep Safe Bed would accomplish keeping Dylan safe as well as provide his family with peace of mind. In addition to safety, the bed also serves another factor that is just as important. The Sleep Safe Bed has features of a hospital bed for transfers. This is so very important for Dylan’s family as they are his main caregivers. As he grows, weight becomes a major factor in daily care. The bed adjusts in ways that make it safe for his family/caregivers to lift Dylan without injuring themselves and provides safely and comfort for him. This bed will grow with him into adulthood. The Sleep Safe Bed costs $13,000 and is not covered by insurance. The Gierke Family has received a $5,000 grant to help cover the cost, but this still leaves $8,000 remaining. SpiritHorse Kingsburg is honored to host our 1st Annual Great Give Back event to help the Gierke Family raise the remaining cost of the bed. Our goal is to continue this tradition annually to help provide for and give back to members of our community in need.
