Description

Join intertwined nature + forest therapy and Red Dragon Herbs in embracing the transition between autumn and winter in Iowa with a mindful walk in nature, followed by a tea ceremony withMary, co-owner of Red Dragon Herbs & Teas. As the busiess of the holiday season begins to creep in, this experience will help you to slow down, calm your mind, and tap into wellness and relaxation. Forest therapy is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, an evidence-based wellness practice that has been around for decades. Forest bathing boosts immunity, lowers blood pressure and stress hormones, prevents and relieves stress and anxiety, and increases cognitive functioning. Guided forest bathing walks are appropriate for all ages and abilities: less than a ½ mile is covered on each walk. Guides use techniques to support participants in entering a state of embodied awareness, moving through a series of “invitations” to support participants in tuning into each of their senses, allowing participants to move into a liminal space, and experience resulting wellness benefits. Read a little more about the practice here: Forest Bathing Could Be the Key to Feeling Better. This event will be held at Walnut Woods State Park. After the 2-hour forest therapy walk, we will enjoy a tea ceremony featuring tea from Red Dragon Herbs & Teas. Mary of Red Dragon will share the story of their local Iowa business, instruct us on the best tea-making methods, and pass out small bags of tea to each participant to take home. Cost includes one 2-hour forest bathing experience, tea ceremony with tea and light snacks, and a small bag of Red Dragon tea to make at home.
