2 Elmhurst Men Face Domestic Violence Charges: Cops

ELMHURST, IL — Two Elmhurst men were arrested as the result of domestic disturbances Monday, police said. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail. Alejandro Escarpita, 34, was arrested on two counts of domestic battery. According to a police report, Escarpita punched a woman in the face numerous times. Officers said they saw injuries to the woman's forehead, nose and face. Escarpita's knuckles on both hands were red and swollen, police said. He refused to provide officers any information about the incident, which happened about 3 a.m. in the 700 block of South Saylor Avenue, police said. Vivek R. Shah, 37, was arrested on two counts of domestic battery. A woman told officers that Shah struck her in the face. The victim was reported as suffering from an injury under her right eye. Shah told police they had a verbal argument, but nothing physical occurred. The incident happened about 7:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of South York Street, police said. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
