I'm a site coordinator at the Safe Outdoor Site For St Francis Center (Barnum location). The last month we have been hit hard with one of our safe Outdoor sites being burned down and having had to relocate many of our residents to (2) other sites. Our folks have had a rough month and we ( staff) wanted to bring a little fun to our sites for Halloween. One of those holidays that just brings joy to adults.
Safe Outdoor Spaces are safe spaces for homeless residents who cannot utilize shelters. We serve couples, me, women, veterans, mobility impaired, and those with animals. We meet folks where they are at. We provide tents, electricity, onsite showers and bring case managers onsite. We provide peace, and dignity, and lots and lots of hope.
We wanted to host a Halloween/Day of the Dead Day of Fun at our (2) open sites. Our DHS Site (38th and Steele and Barnum 2nd and Federal). We house approximately 100 homeless residents between both sites and 9 fur babies. Planning a pancake and waffle breakfast, bingo games, crafts, and a movie night. We want it to be a fun filled relaxing day for our folks and could use a few angels to help us reach our goal.
We could use a little help with getting some food, snacks, and candy for the event which will be spread out between 2 locations.
We are looking for the following types of items:
Pancake mix, eggs, bacon, sausage, juice boxes, dessert snack items, candy, decorations, prizes, and Halloween pet treats (fur babies get goody bags too).
I have set up a Walmart wish list, and can pick up items as well. It doesn't have to be items specifically from Walmart but many folks like the convenience of a wishlist.
Items can be dropped off at our sites ( pm me for addresses), or dropped at my home and I'll sort out, (Alameda and Fairmont area of Denver) or delivered.
Any help would be appreciated!
Nicole
