Description

We invite you to share your vision, thoughts, and ideas on the challenges and strengths for services in the King County Native Community. Our goal is to ascertain a shared vision and a clear roadmap for that vision. Join us for a free dinner and discussion Wednesday October 26th beginning at 5:30p. In 2013 the United Way of King County (UWKC) pursuant to is mission to “bring caring people together to give, volunteer, and take action to help people in need and solve our communities toughest challenges” contracted to assess and better address needs of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities in Seattle-King County, and the organizations that represent these populations. The contractor, Kauffman & Associates, Inc. (KAI) an American Indian woman-owned professional services firm with deep roots in the urban Indian community of Seattle was selected to conduct this work. A plan was produced entitled, “Assessment of Assets and Opportunities of the King County Urban Indian Population: A Vision for the Urban Indian Community”, dated June 2014. This plan has served as a roadmap for many Urban Indian organizations and funders to address the priorities and needs identified. It also created a framework for organizational collaboration and planning. It is now time to review the outcomes and impacts of this planning process, and to revisit next steps in advancing the plan to move closer to its stated vision. Please join us and share your views of your community, including its strengths, resources, opportunities and gaps.
