Andrew Walsh, a wildlife biologist from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife
(ODFW) will discuss the history, biology and management of mule deer in Central
Oregon. Results from recent research on survival and movement of mule deer in
Eastern Oregon will be presented, as well as the implications for management going
forward. Discussion will also focus on the myriad of issues currently impacting mule
deer in Central Oregon. Andrew will be happy to answer questions on all aspects of
living with deer.
Andrew Walsh is a fifth generation Oregonian, who was raised in Medford. He studied
Fisheries and Wildlife Science at Oregon State University and has worked for the
ODFW for 13 years, in a wide variety of locations around the state. Andrew moved to
Central Oregon in 2015, and worked out of the Prineville office for two years before
transferring to the Bend ODFW office as a wildlife habitat biologist. He was recently
promoted to the role of Supervisory Wildlife Biologist for the Deschutes Wildlife District
based out of Bend. Andrew and his wife live in Redmond with their one-year-old
daughter.
