About the movie: “Trauma is not what happens to you. Trauma is what happens inside you, as a result of what happens to you. . .So much of what we call abnormality in this culture is actually normal responses to an abnormal culture." One in five Americans are diagnosed with mental illness in any given year. Suicide is the second most common cause of death in the US for youth aged 15-24, and kills over 800,000 people a year globally and 48,300 in the USA . Drug overdose kills 81,000 in the USA annually. The autoimmunity epidemic affects 24 million people in the USA . What is going on? Gabor Maté is a physician and best-selling author who has dedicated his life to understanding the connection between illness, addiction, trauma and society. Journey with him in becoming a trauma-informed society seeking to understand the sources from which troubling behaviors and diseases spring in the wounded human soul and how we heal. PARKING for the Theater in the Gallagher Student CenterParking information (MAP BELOW) FROM 1-75 NORTH OR SOUTH Take I-75 North/South to Norwood Rt. 562 (exit #7) going east. Take U.S. 42/Reading Road (exit #2), and turn right off exit. Turn left at the third light onto Victory Parkway. Turn left at the third light onto Dana Avenue. Turn left at the stone wall entrance onto University Drive. FROM 1-71 NORTH Take I-71 North to Dana Ave/Montgomery Road (exit #5). Turn left onto Duck Creek Road. At the second stoplight, turn left onto Dana Avenue. After the fourth stoplight (at Ledgewood Drive), continue and then turn right at the second street, University Drive (stone wall entrance). FROM 1-71 SOUTH Take I-71 South to Dana Avenue (exit #5) and turn right off the exit. After the third stop light (at Ledgewood Drive), turn right onto University Drive (stone wall entrance). The Gallagher Student Center is the last building on the right-hand side of University Drive. Parking is available in either the Gallagher or Brockman Lots. Parking is not permitted in designated spots (e.g. President's Office, Physical Plant, etc). Upon entering the building, the theater is to your left. Parking information You are permitted to drop off passengers in the cul-de-sac, but parking is not permitted. A handicap ramp is available near the entry way.
