AfroComicCon Film Festival Youth Community Day!Sunday, October 23rd, 2022From 12:30 - 2:30 pmThe New Parkway Theater474 24th St, Oakland, CA 94612 - 12 Years old and older will need a vaccination card or take a rapid Covid test to enter The New Parkway - This event is FREE and open to youth and families. We are excited to have local comedian Eric Newton as our MC for the festival bringing laughs and a few cosplay surprises. -12:30 pm Doors open. (Photo section available for kids) -12:40 pm Start Announcement and event introduction by MC. -12:45 pm Intro and screening story reels from StoryXperiential p``anel talking to young creators and filmmakers. -1:30 pm Founders Greeting and Pixar's Theo Hollingsworth introduces Pixar's 'Spark' short film Loop. -1::45 pm Interview with Krissy Kababa, producer of 'Loop; - Q&A with panelist. We will have a few surprises for the kids and cosplay is highly encouraged. Oakland Technology & Education Center is the 501c3 that presents AfroComicCon Film Festival Youth Community Day) which is a fun, educational, and inspiring event, for youth and families. This event's mission vision is to open doors for youth and particularly people of color. We hope that event will inspire youth to produce images and begin sharing their own stories. Learn the basics of storytelling with a range of diverse fictional heroes and sheroes icons that will create empowerment for young people of color. On this day we will feature a host of engaging visuals and discussions/presentations. We will be showcasing the work of youth who have taken part in workshops put on by the Pixar-related company 'Story Xperiential' Story Xperiential provides workshops that teach how to make a Pixar film from the ground up. The day is available to youth who will connect and learn from pros in the artistic industries while enjoying art and expression.
