Come hear baritone Philip Stoddard and collaborative pianist Adam Rothenberg in a program of American songs called “American Folk Song Settings” by composer Stephen Marc Kohn. An award-winning lyric baritone known for his versatile artistry, Philip is a graduate of both The Juilliard School’s Drama Division and Institute for Vocal Arts, holding the distinction of being the only artist in school history to attend two different divisions.
Praised for his “ambered, cello-like resonance which he wields with great nuance: he is the antithesis of a cookie-cutter singer” (Lucid Culture Press). Stoddard is a distinguished winner of the international Lotte Lenya Vocal Competition presented by the Kurt Weill Foundation, for which he first collaborated with fellow Juilliard graduate Rothenberg, who is also a Broadway conductor. Steven Mark Kohn has written music for films (ABC, PBS and The Disney Channel), commercials (Wheaties, BP, Arby’s and others), industrial shows (Volvo, Matrix and GTE), guided imagery CDs (The Health Journey’s catalog), many art songs, and for four musicals and two operas.
