WHAT TO EXPECT: Boot camp will start promptly at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Old Colony Smokehouse, 802 W Queen Street, Edenton, NC 27932. This will be an open-discussion style class where all questions are welcome. We expect to conclude around 6:00pm but please allow some flexibility in your schedule as we want to make sure we answer any and all questions. Our goal is for you to leave fully prepared, motivated, and confident to expertly prepare all items covered in the class. We will discuss: - turkey (3 different ways) - ham - sides - sauces/glazes - brining - seasoning - timing - cooking - carving & presenting Boot camp will conclude with a full meal consisting of all items covered in class. If you’re short on time and need to take your meal to go, we’ll have boxes on hand. If you’re able to stay, we’ll have time for discussion about how to apply the techniques you’ve learned to your specific grill or smoker, and to answer any questions you may have about what we covered. HOW TO DRESS: Boot camp will take place indoors and outdoors, so dress accordingly. Mid-November can be a weather wild card, so be sure to check the forecast the day before. No need to worry about rain or mud, our outdoor portion will take place under our covered patio. WHAT TO BRING: We’ll provide you with a pen and pad for note taking. We’ll have complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and snacks available. And, we’ll feed you dinner. So you shouldn’t need anything other than yourself. Just come with an open mind and an eagerness to learn everything you need to impress your Thanksgiving guests. YOU COULD WIN A FREE PIT BARREL COOKER! We’ll be featuring the Pit Barrel Cooker as one of our cooking vessels during boot camp. The demo unit we use will be given away to one participant at the end of the day. QUESTIONS??
