I specialize in care for infants and toddlers. I live in a town house in a small, quiet neighborhood in SE Portland off Stark Street between 148th and 162nd, with easy access to both the I-5 and 205 freeways. I'm also within walking distance of both the bus and Max. I offer a cozy, homey atmosphere for a small group of infants and toddlers. I give them lots of TLC and one on one care. I want the kids in my care to feel at 'home' as much as possible, so I try and do things in a way where they feel as if they're at home with friends. I'm not rigid in structure but offer enough so that the children feel comfortable and secure. I strive to provide a positive, nurturing and safe environment as well as offer age appropriate, stimulating fun activities. A few of the things we do are: arts and crafts, story-time, building blocks, puzzles, kids music for dancing and exercising, playtime with friends. We also do special crafts and activities for holidays. Two to three days a week, I offer preschool activities designed especially for kids beginning around age 3. Some children are ready a little younger. I'm fairly laid back with it and work according to how well the kids "focus and pay attention" on a given day~ what they don't finish here, they can finish at home...kids seem to actually like 'homework' at this age! 😊 I serve "kid friendly" yet healthy meals, I enjoy cooking and the children often benefit from home made fresh foods. I believe that introducing good food to young children encourages them to enjoy a variety of wonderful, healthy foods as they grow. The kids in my care have always been great eaters! I have a small fenced backyard for outdoor play in nice weather. I have a small play structure, outdoor toys, a little kids pool for cooling off and a kid size picnic table for lunch time picnics when the sun is out. In my care, children also learn a lot about Love, Respect, Sharing, Friendship and much more just through our day to day interaction and play with each other. I believe it's very important for kids to learn to respect others, show appreciation and to be grateful. I believe it's my responsibility, as a provider, to help parents instill values in children that will help them become loving and responsible in life, and I strongly believe it all begins at this young age. I have been a "second mom" to many great kids over the past 30+ years and I look forward to the opportunity to talk with you about care for your little ones. "A hundred years from now... it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." "If you think my hands are full, you ought to see my heart “
