CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — A Heights High student tested positive for COVID-19 this week, the district announced. On Monday, the district learned that the student tested positive for the virus. The student is in a remote-learning model, but visited the high school building on Dec. 18. The student is now resting at home, the district said. Cleaning and disinfecting of the high school took place Monday afternoon. The district has been working with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health on contact tracing. Officials asked anyone contacted by the board to cooperate with their questions. The district provided the following tips to limit COVID-19's spread in Cleveland Heights and around Ohio: Wear a face maskMaintain social distancing of at least 6 feetFrequent hand washing with soap and waterHand sanitizing when soap and water are not availableStaying home when you do not feel wellDisinfecting high-touch surfaces regularlyNot sharing food, drinks, cups and utensilsAvoiding large gatherings of 10 or more peopleSince Dec. 30, there have been two cases of COVID-19 among students in the Heights Schools. Since Sept. 3, 2020 (when the district began tracking cases), there have been 22 cases of COVID-19 among staff and 16 among students.
