The Red Ribbon Event is part of The Quilt Comes to Wilmington collaboration with The LGBTQ Center of the Cape Fear Coast, UNCW, and Mouths of Babes. Since 2016, SEEDS of Healing has worked diligently to spread HIV awareness and promote wellness through community collaborations. The Red Ribbon Event reignites all our commitments to support those living with a diagnosis of HIV. Together, we envision our community members with an HIV diagnosis living a productive life free from stigma.
Keynote Speaker: De’Shea Coney, is the HepConnect Coordinator for the North Carolina AIDS Action Network. De'Shea is originally from Montgomery, Alabama, and has lived the experience of dealing with the marginalized intersections of race and being a sexual minority while growing up in the Deep South. De'Shea's HIV and HCV prevention advocacy brings hope and resonate with the World AIDS Day 2022 theme: "Equalize. The call to action is to address social and healthcare inequalities to End the Epidemic. This includes health equity, social justice, health access for all, policy reform, stigma reduction, and inclusion practices.
Red Ribbon Event attendees will observe the panels from the National AIDS Memorial, enjoy the Cameron Art Museum exhibits, and listen to the Live Performance by Darryl "Soul Sax" Murrill"
