You and a guest are invited to attend the independent screening of, "The Longest Fight,” featuring boxer Joe Gans, Directed by Ted Faye. Friday, October 22, 2022 6 p.m., West Las Vegas Library Theater. Some background story: September 3, 1906 in Goldfield Nevada. Lightweight boxers Joe Gans, and Oscar “Battling” Nelson fought 42 rounds in the relentless heat of the Mojave Desert sun. Joe Gans became the first African-American welterweight boxing champion of the 20th Century. Gans was smart, trim, and handsome, with a referred right hook. He was also the first black man in Baltimore, his home town, to own a car, and the saloon he owned was the first place in the city where people of all color mingled socially. . . join us at the screening of “The Longest Fight”, view the documentary, and meet the director Mr. Ted Faye.
