Description

AIA MKE along with Westlake Royal Building Products is presenting the 4th annual Ghost Tour - “Spooks & Spirits” tour. This year we will explore “Easttown Hauntings”. Anna Lardinois, the author of “Milwaukee Ghosts & Legends” will show us a look beyond what you see every day and explore a world of hidden pasts and dark secrets, restless spirits, and eerie sightings. This 90-minute walking tour will begin and end at Cathedral Square, 520 E. Wells Street. On the tour we’ll explore the haunted locations in former Juneau Town, including the spook-tacular City Hall, the Pfister, and we’ll steal a glimpse at the Hilton Garden Inn, the site of the ill-fated Newhall House Hotel…. This two -mile walk will not take breaks. This is a rain or shine tour, so lace up your comfy shoes and bring an umbrella if sprinkles are in the forecast. Of course, this is the AIA so we will also be focusing on the lack of safety features implemented, which may explain why there are so many ghosts from the past still here. The “Spooks” tour will start at 4:30 until around 6:00 with “Spirits” (refreshments) afterwards at Taylor’s (795 N. Jefferson Street). Learning Objectives: Learn about the Pfister Hotel built as Milwaukee’s first fireproof hotel. Examine how further suicides occurring at City Hall atrium were prevented. Review how accessibility issues on the Riverwalk were resolved after a lawsuit. Recognize how the conflicts between code requirements and Historic Tax Credits were resolved in the Hilton Garden Inn atrium.Presented by Anna Lardinois, Gothic Milwaukee Hosted by AIA Milwaukee Space is limited **This is a rain or shine walking tour, please dress appropriately.** This tour is intended for AIA members and Architecture Industry Professionals. 1 LU/HSW
