Description
About Me hey there, I’m 28 year old singer, songwriter, and guitarist looking to put together a sad indie / lo-fi rock / bedroom pop / alternative project here in SD. I have 15 years of experience on guitar writing music and playing in bands as well as limited experience playing bass and keys. I work a full time remote job with some flexibility and dedicate much of my free time to music I’ve got approx. 30 minutes worth of songs (more or less full compositions) that I would like to further develop in a group setting and then move towards a more collaborative writing process for future material. I’m eager to write, record, and start playing shows but understand that finding the right fits for any band takes time. I'm looking for like minded individuals who share a similar vision for this project and I don't intend to rush into a poor fit just to get things off the ground. I would be interested in moving forward with recording and/or gigging with a partial lineup in the meantime, however. About the Project My primary goals for this project are to: - regularly rehearse, write, record, and release music - gig locally and regionally, make connections within the local and regional indie scene - take this project seriously and see where it goes In addition to the primary genre's listed above, additional influences include dream pop, shoegaze, jangle pop. Rather than listing 100 bands, the following selection of songs should give you a decent idea of the sounds and styles I’m interested in pursuing with this project. This is far from comprehensive but should serve as a decent starting point for understanding of where I’m drawing inspiration from. In other words, if you don’t enjoy these songs, you probably won’t enjoy the music I’ve been writing. Current Joys - “You Broke My Heart” Built To Spill - “Liar” Lomelda - “Interstates” Palehound - “Dry Food” mom jeans. - “Edward 40hands” Ada Lea - “damn” Indigo de Souza - “How I Get Myself Killed” Julia Jacklin - “Don’t Know How To Keep Loving You” Her’s - “What Once Was” About You You should be: organized, thoughtful, kind, genuinely interested in genres and style examples listed below, competent in your chosen instrument and comfortable playing in a group setting, able to regularly rehearse Nice to haves: experience writing and playing in a group/band setting, ability to sing/harmonize, experience recording and producing, access to rehearsal space I'm primarily looking for (but not limited to): - a bassist (happy to step into this role if needed) - a drummer (I’d prefer a live drummer but I’m fairly adept at writing drums and open to using a drum machine for now) - a synth/keys player - guitarist(s) (experience with looping station preferred) If this seems like a project you’re interested in, reach out and let’s set up a time to chat! I’m happy to share the material I’ve been working if it seems like a good fit
