Rapid Physical Growth in the Early Stages of Life (2.5 Hours-Growth & Development) Description Physically, between birth and age three a child typically doubles in height and quadruples in weight. Bodily proportions also shift, so that the infant, whose head accounts for almost one-fourth of total body length, becomes a toddler with a more balanced, adult-like appearance. Babies change from kicking and squirming, to holding objects, crawling and standing, the development of fine and gross motor skills starts in the early years. Fine motor refers to small muscles groups, including hands, wrists, fingers, feet and toes. Expanding and Emerging Fine and Gross Motor Skills through Play (2.5 Hours – Growth & Development Description Working on motor skills helps children gain strengthen and confidence in his/her body. Trainees will collaborate with other educators to obtain more knowledge to help strengthen a child's ability to do more complex skills in future activities. Trainees will receive best practices and Developmentally Appropriate activities as they encourage Young Children to explore the world around them.
