The last month has been particularly rough for the residents of the City of Sunnyvale - particularly those who've tried to traverse the city on foot or on bike. The City has seen three fatalities and many more injured - all in a span of just a few weeks! These traumatic incidents of "Traffic Violence" are devastating families, lives, and community members throughout the South Bay, the Bay Area, and beyond! Nothing can be done to undo the loss that the victim's friends and families have incurred. Our hearts go out to them to give them comfort, courage and hope to sail through these difficult times. What can we do? - Let's push our leaders to make the streets safer TODAY! Let's push our leaders to prioritize these improvements NOW! Let's show our City staff and Councils that we care and that we will not sit idle waiting for more people to get killed on our streets. Join SVBC on this ride on October 30th in memory and honor of, and in solidarity with, all those who've lost their lives. We urge the City to fast-track necessary infrastructure changes. Please pass this along to all those you know. The more people we can gather, the stronger voice we can present! This will be a carefully-planned, family-friendly bike ride. When: Sunday, October 30th at 11:00 am Where: Ortega Park(Tennis Courts), 636 Harrow Way, Sunnyvale, CA (see route) Why: To bring attention to the City's lack of action and to honor those that have been lost. Feel free to prepare some words, bring flowers, candles, or a sign to the ride. Definitely bring along friends, family, co-workers. The more people we have, the stronger voice we can present.
