Man Crawls Through Child's Bedroom Window: Alameda Police

ALAMEDA, CA — The Alameda Police Department is warning residents to take extra precautions because of home burglaries and trespassing incidents. Police say there were three crimes committed between 3:30 and 6:30 a.m. on Monday alone. In one especially troubling case, "a child woke up to a man climbing into her bedroom window. The suspect was able to get into the room and stayed for approximately 10 minutes before taking off. We want to emphasize that the man DID NOT harm the child, but his actions were alarming." That happened at a residence on Beach Road. In another case on Beach Road, a man told police that he confronted an unknown man in his home before the suspect ran away. The third case on Monday was a prowling incident on Sea Bridge Way. The man in all three cases on Monday is described as wearing a black puffy jacket or sweatshirt, dark pants, white shoes with blue coloring, and a white face mask. Police are reminding residents to lock any points of entry to their home, double-check the doors and windows before bed, use an alarm system, consider using a wooden dowel or metal rod to secure sliding doors and windows, and avoid leaving tools or ladders unsecured outside of your home. If you see someone checking door handles or peering into windows, or capture it on surveillance, contact police.
