Indio – Shephard the Valley United Methodist Church welcomes you to experience the completely transformed, drought-resistant Serenity Garden in Indio. The church saved three-quarters of a million gallons of water in just the first year by replacing the thirsty lawn with beautiful desert landscape. This water conservation success story is thanks to Indio Water Authority (IWA) and the city’s Turf Reduction program. The program is available to organizations wishing to apply and is mirrored by several water conservancy programs in cities across the Coachella Valley. Join us November 12th to celebrate the new Serenity Garden. Indio City Mayor Waymond Fermon and the Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to help other organizations learn about the water conservation program. There will be music, an ice cream social, and activities for all ages to entertain families.
