Description

I don’t recommend doing this Job. I did a small job here changing blinds that went fine. I discussed with the customer another project she had in mind to paint a wall. I told her I could do the wall and we agreed on time and material. I told her I am an electrician by trade I could do the job but I had to get materials since she didn’t have brushes or rollers and stuff like that. She said she would pay me $40 an hour even though I told her I’d do it for $25 an hour. She also wanted me to paint some flower vases. I wanted to do a great job so I bought painters paper for the floor to protect it from paint that might mist off the roller, painters tape for the mounding and door trim 1 paint brush, 1 roller, a paint tray and plastic tray. We agreed on time and material that’s why I bought the material other wise I would have let her get them. As soon as I get there she gives me a hard time about the material. Even though I know we discussed it I said no problem I’ll cover the materials maybe there was a miss communication. She proceeded to tell me she could get it done for $50 bucks and seemed worried about what it was going to cost. She painting black on a white wall. She bought the paint so I couldn’t predict how well one coat was going to look. She wasn’t happy with that. I told her I would work fast, neat and efficient but I wasn’t going to rush because I wanted to do a good job. I’ve worked with professional painting companies and I know you have to put more than one coat sometimes. I gave her my prediction of how much time based on the wall, vases and possibly a second coat on both of the things I was painting, as a one man crew. My estimation involved the time it would take to cut around edges and trim, removing the shelves to do a good job, painting the 2 vases she had, applying a second coat and reinstalling the shelves. She was getting nasty and just nit picking what I was doing. I was worried I was going to do the job only for her to not pay me so I told her find a professional painting company to do it. She proceeded to throw all the material and tools outside on the lawn, ripped up the paper I put down to protect her floors and told me I was worth less than a human being and didn’t deserved to be spoken with respect. But this is coming from someone who offered me a joint to pay for the work..who was high while I did the first job and couldn’t even remember the terms we agreed to the first time. Terrible customer steer clear cause you might not get paid. She seemed like she didn’t want to pay more than $100. At the $25 an hour rate we agreed on she might of paid less if the first coat covered well. I’m not a slow worker at all and I have 2 years plus painting experience. But she was such a nasty customer. Glad I walked out instead of risking not getting pairs and having to eat the cost of materials. And I drove 30 min to do this job so I lost an hour of my day plus gas. Trust me steer clear.
