Description
Annual GAIN ConferenceBecoming Radically InclusiveApril 26th - 28th 2022 | Ashland Hills Hotel & SuitesThe Gender Advocacy and Inclusion Network (GAIN) in Higher Education is hosting our annual conference in beautiful Ashland, Oregon, April 26-28, 2023. This year marks the 42nd conference, although it is the milestone first event with our new organizational identity as GAIN. Our theme this year is “Becoming Radically Inclusive”. The conference theme encourages all of us to reflect on structures of power and hierarchy in higher education. Further, it allows GAIN to embrace our responsibilities to the broader community so we are able to serve long after our pivot. Our intentional inclusivity is designed to reach gender non-conforming individuals, our trans colleagues, disabled folks, BIPOC, and other marginalized individuals. Furthermore, the conference gives us the opportunity to learn together and from each other as professionals in academic environments about the practice of ongoing inclusive work. All perspectives are welcome parts of this collective work. Our conference is a pillar of GAIN’s educational work - it builds on the collective understandings about intersectional Gender Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Justice we develop through the other educational programming. It is also a time to share meals together, workshop ideas, and connect in affinity spaces with other professionals from the region. As a non-profit, educational event, our annual conference is open to all individuals; no membership is required. We cater to higher education admin, faculty, staff, and students. The conference is financed by registration fees and sponsorships.
