About the Smokehouse Gamblers: These guys rock! Uncovered from the attic, there’s an old ammo box filled with original Americana, rock and blues riffs. Hidden beneath the stained floor boards, a dusty bottle of electric-eyed bourbon waits for a tip from calloused hands. The Smokehouse Gamblers climb down the ladder, venture outside and welcome the sweetness of the Northern California Pines, all the while, ready to case the neighborhood for good vittles and beer.Holed up in the western hills of Sonoma County, Calif., the Smokehouse Gamblers emerged in 2005. Independent and quite familiar with crossing the tracks, the band has released four albums; “Blood on The Ladder” 2006, “Tales from the Seven Seas” 2007, “War Comes in Roses” 2010, and “Derailed by Nature” 2012; the last two with producer Calvin Turnbull (Leon Russell, Kim Ritchey, Sheryl Crow, Booker T., Melissa Etheridge, and The English Beat.) The title “Derailed by Nature” derives from the times, standing alone on the thin knife edge, looking forward, looking back. Whether it be a vast desert landscape, the high plains and prairie or above our atmosphere in the blackness of inner orbit, all can derail given the physical nature of gravity, or time, at the abrupt moment you leap… just ask the buffalo.
