Somalia is in a serious crisis, with over seven million people in need of urgent assistance. Largely driven by the hydrological drought, long-running conflict, lack of purchasing power, poor humanitarian access, and underlying vulnerability, over 800,000 people are currently displaced in Somalia.
Approximately 60% of Somalia’s population is nomadic or semi-nomadic pastoralists who mainly breed cattle, camels, goats, and sheep and 25 % of Somalis conduct agriculture for a living. This dependence on climate vulnerable livelihoods, combined with limited access to basic social services, is what makes the people of Somalia particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
