Description

Clyde is a nine-month-old mix breed puppy. He is up to date on his shots and currently not neutered. He will be neutered prior to placement. We are his second placement. He was found in the Samoset area with his sister. She has since been adopted. Clyde then spent from April to June with a foster (not a rescue) and came to us at the end of June. Clyde is a great puppy that will just hang with you in the house all day. Laying on the floor next to you. Has a blast doing zoomies outside with the other two male (neutered) dogs. So, his good with dogs. We also have an Amazon parrot and chickens, and he is fine with them too. His leash skills are good, but he is still reactive when he sees other dogs, cats and or squirrels. But not a barker. Does not bark at doorbells, knocking or strangers. He is shy when meeting new people, so if they ignore him and give him a chance to check them out, then they are his buddy. If presented with something new or unfamiliar his first instinct is to run. Strange things are scary. Clyde hates to be separated from his people for long periods of time and will and has escaped every crate he has been put in. He has pulled apart the medal on an extra-large Great Dane crate and shimmies thru the opening. And once he gets out, if the other dogs are not with him, he will try to chew is way into wherever they are. Crate training Clyde is possible but will take time. He is a typical puppy that will chew things that are left out, but mostly chooses his toys. Loves to play catch and will play on his own with his toys tossing them all over the place and then pouncing on them. Very funny to watch. Great in the car and loves kids but is too wiggly and large for smaller children. We have a 7-year-old granddaughter that he could knock over if not supervised. Knows sit and wait and release. At breakfast and dinner all the dogs need to stay in their place until all the dog bowls are put down and then they are released to eat one at a time. Eye contact with Clyde for this skill is awesome. He is going to be a great fit for someone who is home a lot or can take him with them. Someone that understands and will work with his crate training. Once trust is established his recall is great and he is learning “Leave it” I believe he suffered some physical punishment in the past and when he has done something he should not he looks at you like you will beat him. We ignore all puppy mistake that we don’t catch him doing. If we catch him a simple no is enough to get him to stop. Why are we rehoming him, I work full time and my husband (retired) has had a difficult medical diagnosis and we are overwhelmed. Our other two dogs are 6 and 12 so they don’t need as much as Clyde. Home check and vet check to be done.
