Hoping to learn Japanese

Hello! I just wanted to ask for some advice. I'm looking to learn Japanese, as it is my intent to someday be able to move there, but I cannot afford private classes and Parkland College no longer offers a course. I'm good at self-teaching, but there are so many books, programs, etc. out there, and I have no idea where to invest what resources I have. As I mentioned, I'm on a pretty tight budget, so I can't just buy up a bunch of materials and see what works best. I'm looking for recommendations for learning materials or, if possible, for information regarding an institution that offers Japanese courses and accepts FAFSA grants.
